JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Diversified industrial group Republikorp has forged a major strategic alliance with publicly traded broadcaster PT Media Nusantara Citra Tbk (MNCN) and PT Sinergi Terang Abadi (STA) to construct an integrated nationwide media ecosystem.
The partnership brings together national news television channels, radio stations, digital news websites, and over-the-top streaming services under a single corporate umbrella to accelerate content production, cross-platform audience distribution, and long-term business growth.
Traditional free-to-air television networks in Southeast Asia face intense competition as digital advertising budgets migrate to algorithmic social platforms and on-demand streaming. By merging conventional broadcasting infrastructure with established online portals, the consortium builds an integrated content and distribution engine. The cross-platform footprint provides advertisers with direct access to massive consumer traffic while insulating legacy broadcasting operations through diversified digital revenue streams.
Unifying Broadcast and Digital Footprints
Under the agreement, the collaboration integrates key properties from MNCN’s news and factual arm, iNews Media Group (IMG), including flagship news station PT MNC Televisi Network (iNews TV) and radio management vehicle PT MNC Multimedia Nusantara.
The venture also incorporates PT Media Platform Indonesia (MPI) from STA, which operates several of Indonesia's most heavily trafficked digital publications, such as Okezone.com, iNews.id, Sindonews.com, and News+.
The iNews ecosystem also encompasses business news network IDX Channel, operating both as a linear pay-TV station and a digital business portal focused on domestic capital markets, macroeconomic policy, and corporate finance.
Combined, the partnered platforms command an audience of approximately 72 million social media followers and subscribers, generating an aggregate of 1.8 billion views each month.
Expanding Regional News and Sports
Angela Tanoesoedibjo, Chief Executive Officer of iNews Media Group and Co-CEO of MNC Group, characterized the transaction as an essential leap forward in accelerating digital transformation across news and sports reporting.
"Through this collaboration, which combines national network reach, content production capabilities, digital technology, and cross-platform distribution, we aim to deliver information that is increasingly relevant, credible, and accessible to the Indonesian public," Angela said on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026.
Angela underscored that a key operational asset of iNews is its extensive network of regional bureaus and local journalists across the archipelago, an advantage the partnership with Republikorp intends to scale further.
"We are optimistic that this partnership will generate sustainable growth and deliver added value to viewers, digital users, business partners, shareholders, and all stakeholders," Angela added.
Commitment to Editorial Independence and Governance
Republikorp Group Founder and Chairman Norman Joesoef stated that the deal reflects long-term confidence in Indonesia's evolving commercial media landscape.
"Together with MNC, we will build a nationally integrated media platform supported by professional governance, technological innovation, and high-quality content," Norman said on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026.
Norman emphasized that the alliance guarantees operational broadcasting continuity, newsroom editorial independence, and continued capital investment in digital talent and transmission technology.
The partnership will operate under strict corporate governance principles, leaving editorial decision-making entirely to newsroom editors in accordance with the national Press Law, broadcasting program standards, and established journalistic ethics codes.
All participating television, radio, and digital channels will continue normal operations during the administrative transition period to prevent disruption for daily audiences.
Republikorp Group operates across energy, mineral resources, infrastructure, the defense industry, and media. PT Republik Media Anak Bangsa serves as the group's dedicated media operating company and acted as the acquiring entity in the transaction. MNCN, a subsidiary of MNC Group, operates national free-to-air networks, commercial content production studios, and digital entertainment services.
