British Giant AEP Plantations Eyes IDX Listing to Fuel Massive Kalimantan Palm Oil Expansion
Key Takeaways

JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — British plantation giant AEP Plantations Plc is preparing a major capital markets play in Indonesia, revealing plans to list its subsidiary, PT AEP Nusantara Plantations Tbk, on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The move, disclosed via the London Stock Exchange on Monday, marks a strategic pivot to tap into local liquidity to fund the company's aggressive expansion in Central Kalimantan.
AEP's listing adds a high-caliber British player to an Indonesian IPO pipeline increasingly defined by "jumbo-scale" assets. For global investors, the move signals confidence in Indonesia’s palm oil fundamentals despite global sustainability pressures. By listing locally, AEP is not only strengthening its funding structure but also aligning its operational footprint with domestic market dynamics to better navigate the regulatory landscape of the world’s largest palm oil producer.

The $15.7 Million "Jumbo" Pipeline
The IDX IPO queue is currently a playground for big hitters. According to I Gede Nyoman Yetna, Director of Company Appraisal at the IDX, 11 of the 16 companies currently in the pipeline are classified as "large-scale assets" with valuations exceeding Rp 250 billion ($15.7 million). This trend suggests a flight to quality as the market bypasses small-scale issuers in favor of established players with significant infrastructure requirements.
Healthcare remains the most active sector in the pipeline with four companies, followed closely by consumer and infrastructure players. AEP Nusantara will join the energy and plantation segment, adding to a year that has already seen Rp 57.16 trillion ($3.59 billion) raised through debt and sukuk issuances as of mid-April.
Calibrating for Growth in Kalimantan
The entity slated for the listing, formerly known as PT Sawit Graha Manunggal, manages approximately 19,000 hectares (46,950 acres) of planted area in Central Kalimantan alongside its subsidiary, PT Kahayan Agro Plantation. To support this growth, AEP has already opened a representative office in Jakarta to streamline communications with local investors.
The company plans to release a 15% stake to the public, meeting the exchange's minimum free float requirements. The proceeds are earmarked for critical capital expenditure, specifically the construction of a new crude palm oil (CPO) mill and infrastructure upgrades at the Kahayan site. "The IPO is a strategy to support business expansion more efficiently," the management stated, aiming for a completion date by mid-2026 pending final nods from the OJK and IDX.
British Roots, Indonesian Soil
AEP Plantations Plc—formerly Anglo-Eastern Plantations—has long been a fixture in the Southeast Asian plantation sector with primary operations spanning Indonesia and Malaysia. This IDX listing represents a maturing of its Indonesian assets, transforming a legacy British holding into a publicly traded local champion.
