JAKARTA, Investortrust.id – Ricky Perdana Gozali has been appointed Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) for the 2025–2030 term, replacing Doni Primanto Joewono whose tenure ends on Monday, Aug 11, 2025. His nomination was approved unanimously by the House of Representatives' Commission XI after a fit and proper test held on Tuesday.
The decision was confirmed by Commission XI Chairman Mukhamad Misbakhun, who said Gozali's appointment was made through a consensus agreement. "We have agreed to appoint Ricky Perdana Gozali as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia for the 2025–2030 term through deliberation and consensus," he said on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta.
Gozali’s nomination was part of a presidential decree submitted by President Prabowo Subianto, listed under Presidential Letter No. R22/Pres/05/2025. The other candidate considered was Dicky Kartikoyono, Head of BI’s Payment System Department.
An Unorthodox Vision Rooted in Pop Culture
In a move that drew attention during his presentation to lawmakers, Gozali opened his vision-and-mission statement with a short video inspired by The Avengers, the blockbuster Marvel film about superheroes uniting to face global threats.
He explained that the video represented his approach to leading at BI—prioritizing synergy and collaboration across institutions. "The Avengers offers a message: unity in overcoming challenges. This philosophy inspires how I intend to strengthen our regional BI offices—what I call ‘Bersimponi’,” Gozali told legislators during his fit and proper test at the DPR's Nusantara I Building.
Seasoned BI Insider with Strong Institutional Roots
Gozali, who currently heads BI’s Jakarta Representative Office, has spent decades rising through the central bank’s ranks. Lawmakers praised his deep understanding of BI's roles and his professional track record. Misbakhun described Gozali as “a capable, highly professional candidate with strong expertise and sufficient leadership capacity.”
Commission XI has sent an official recommendation to the House leadership for scheduling a plenary session to formalize Gozali’s appointment. “We’re now waiting for confirmation on when the plenary will take place. That decision rests with the House leadership,” said Misbakhun.
