Prabowo Appoints Brian Yuliarto as Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Replacing Satryo Soemantri
JAKARTA, investortrust.id - President Prabowo Subianto has appointed Brian Yuliarto as Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, replacing Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro. The inauguration took place at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025.
Brian’s appointment was formalized through Presidential Decree No. 26 P of 2025 on the Dismissal and Appointment of the Red and White Cabinet for the 2024-2029 term.
"I hereby appoint Professor Brian Yuliarto as Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology in the Red and White Cabinet for the remainder of the 2024-2029 term," said Nanik Purwanti, Deputy for State Apparatus Administration at the Ministry of State Secretariat, while reading the decree.
Brian Yuliarto’s Background and Achievements
According to the Faculty of Industrial Technology at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Brian Yuliarto earned his undergraduate degree from ITB in 1999. He continued his education at the University of Tokyo, Japan, completing his master's degree in 2002 and his doctorate in 2005.
In 2024, Brian was awarded the prestigious Habibie Prize in the field of engineering science at the Habibie Prize 2024 Talenta Unggul Award Ceremony.
Oath of Office and Attendees
During the ceremony, President Prabowo led the newly appointed officials in reciting the oath of office. Standing before them, he solemnly declared, "By Allah, I swear that I will be faithful to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will uphold all laws and regulations with utmost integrity for the sake of my service to the nation and state." The officials followed his lead, affirming their commitment to their new roles.
The event was attended by several key government figures. Among them were Muhaimin Iskandar, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development; Pratikno, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture; and Budi Gunawan, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs.
Also in attendance were Yusril Ihza Mahendra, the Coordinating Minister for Law and Human Rights; Abdul Kadir Karding, the Minister of Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection; and Rachmat Pambudy, the Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas).
Sri Mulyani Indrawati, the Minister of Finance, Widiyanti Putri, the Minister of Tourism, and Nusron, the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning, were present as well.
Several other high-ranking officials joined the gathering, including Abdul Mu’ti, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education; Teuku Rifky Harsya, the Minister of Creative Economy; and Saifullah Yusuf, the Minister of Social Affairs.
Budi Gunadi Sadikin, the Minister of Health, and General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Chief of National Police, also witnessed the proceedings. Tito Karnavian, the Minister of Home Affairs; Yassierli, the Minister of Manpower; Prasetyo Hadi, the Minister of State Secretariat; and Teddy Indra Wijaya, the Cabinet Secretary, completed the list of distinguished attendees, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
