Government to Create Unified Poverty Data
JAKARTA, investortrust.id - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar announced that the government will compile unified poverty data for the Indonesian population. He stated that this target has become a government priority after the first 100 days in office.
According to Muhaimin Iskandar, also known as Cak Imin, the government will gather poverty data from various ministries/agencies that have similar data. He mentioned that the unified data will designate the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) as the leading sector.
"Together with the head of BPS, we will detail which profiles of poor groups can no longer be expected to be empowered," he said at the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025.
The chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) said that the government aims to complete the unified poverty data in the near future.
Furthermore, Cak Imin revealed that the government will first profile the current poverty data. He mentioned that there are currently 25 million people classified as poor according to government data.
"From those 25 million, we will identify who can be uplifted to become productive and empowered, and who truly falls under the responsibility of welfare and social protection [by the government]," he said.
Cak Imin also explained that the unified poverty data will be compiled from several databases under the ministries/agencies such as Bappenas, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration, The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), and local governments.
"All of these will be combined into a single socio-economic data, coordinated directly by BPS," he stated.
For your information, the administration of the 7th President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo through Bappenas had previously launched the One Data Social Economic Registration System (Regsosek).

Regsosek itself can identify the welfare of residents from all social strata based on the national identification number (NIK).
Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas 2019-2024 Suharso Monoarfa stated that the implementation of Regsosek was a direct mandate from President Jokowi. The implementation of Regsosek is expected to improve the database of government social spending beneficiaries.
"With the Regsosek data, we can address extreme poverty," said Suharso during the launch of Regsosek at the Dhanapala Building, Jakarta, Thursday, June 20, 2024.
