Cak Imin Backs Pilot Project to Disburse Rp 500 Million in Capital for MBG Partner MSMEs
JAKARTA, investortrust.id – Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, popularly known as Cak Imin, has expressed his support for a proposed initiative to disburse Rp 500 million in capital to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) partnering with the government's Free Nutritious Meals, or MBG, program.
According to Cak Imin, the proposal, initially floated by Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman, is part of efforts to bolster the success of the MBG program through a collaborative ecosystem. He stated that the provision of such incentives would serve as a pilot project by the government.
"However, in general, we are very pleased and fully support the Free Nutritious Meals program in fostering and involving MSMEs," he said during a meeting at the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, Jan 29, 2025.
The National Awakening Party (PKB) politician emphasized that the government is striving to maximize the implementation of the MBG program across all sectors, including schools, communities, and villages, to ensure the active participation of MSMEs. He noted that the system is currently being refined to achieve this goal. "I hope the Head of the National Nutrition Agency will open up as many opportunities as possible for MSMEs to participate in the provision of free nutritious meals," he added.
Earlier, Maman Abdurrahman advocated for MSMEs partnering with the MBG program to be granted easier access to initial capital. He revealed that his office is currently coordinating with 46 partner banks, including state-owned banks such as BNI, Mandiri, BRI, and BTN.
Maman explained that this coordination aims to ensure adequate funding schemes for MSMEs. "With the condition of obtaining a letter of assignment from the National Nutrition Agency, banks will provide initial financing of up to Rp 500 million to help MSMEs procure raw materials," Maman stated in a written release on Sunday.
This initiative underscores the government's commitment to strengthening the MSME sector while simultaneously addressing nutritional challenges through innovative public-private partnerships.
