Patrick Kluivert Officially Named Indonesia National Team Coach, Aims for 2026 World Cup Qualification
JAKARTA, investortrust.id – Patrick Kluivert has officially taken the reins as head coach of the Indonesia national football team, bringing with him a bold mission: to lead the Garuda squad to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Dutch football legend was formally introduced to the Indonesian public during a ceremony at the Ballroom 1 of Hotel Mulia, Jakarta, on Sunday afternoon (January 12, 2025), following his arrival on Saturday evening (January 11, 2025).
The introduction event featured various entertainment segments, including a video showcasing Kluivert’s highlights as both a player and a coach. Additionally, the event presented footage of the careers of his newly appointed assistant coaches, Alex Pastoor and Denny Landzaat.
During the subsequent Q&A session, Kluivert outlined his vision and objectives as the new leader of the Garuda, succeeding Shin Tae-yong. Despite being new to the role, Kluivert expressed confidence, inspiring optimism among both players and fans.
Victory is at the core of Kluivert’s strategy as he prepares for his debut match, where Indonesia will face Australia in Sydney on March 20, 2025, followed by a home game against Bahrain in Jakarta on March 25, 2025.
“I will do my best to achieve our goals. I see that the players and the team share the same ambition. Our initial target is to make an immediate positive impact in the remaining four matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers,” said Kluivert.
