JAKARTA, Investortrust.id – Young journalists from India and Indonesia have joined forces under a new editorial development initiative titled Voice of Tomorrow, aimed at reinforcing journalistic principles in the face of rising misinformation and AI-generated content.
The program, launched by Indian News Desk in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Jakarta, seeks to bridge generations in the newsroom by connecting early-career reporters with veteran editors for hands-on mentorship and capacity building.
CEO Indian News Desk Sachin Gopalan emphasized the initiative’s commitment to media ethics and credibility. “We realized there is something we can do to uphold journalism’s core principles and best practices, and give back to the media environment in both India and Indonesia,” Gopalan said during the opening ceremony at the Indian Embassy in Jakarta’s Kuningan district.
Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Sandeep Chakravorty echoed this concern, pointing to the growing influence of hoaxes and AI-manipulated content on social media platforms. He stressed the importance of building constructive narratives and cross-border editorial solidarity to combat the global erosion of trust in media.
“In today’s digital landscape, we are flooded with negative portrayals, many of which misrepresent India disproportionately,” Chakravorty said. “This program is a timely response to not only strengthen media ties between our two nations but also equip journalists to rise above the noise.”
The program, running from August to October 2025, will feature workshops on news agency reporting techniques, multimedia storytelling, TV production, and fact-checking. Sessions will be led by seasoned journalists from both countries.
Chakravorty highlighted that the idea stemmed from President Prabowo Subianto’s recent state visit to India, which included a media delegation from Indonesia. “It opened our eyes,” he said. “The Indonesian press gave India unprecedented coverage. Many told us they had never seen India featured that prominently before.”
As geopolitical cooperation between the two countries deepens, the Voice of Tomorrow initiative aims to foster a new generation of ethical, skilled, and globally connected reporters who can push back against the rising tide of disinformation.
