JAKARTA, Investortrust.id – PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) has reiterated that it is not involved in the alleged corruption case surrounding the procurement of Chromebook laptops at Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The company affirmed that the issue poses no material impact on its operations or financial position.
In a formal statement released on Tuesday, Corporate Secretary R A Koesoemohadiani emphasized that GoTo has no knowledge beyond media reports and has never participated in the government procurement in question. Nonetheless, the firm pledged to cooperate fully with investigators and comply with legal processes.
“Nadiem Makarim resigned as President Commissioner in October 2019, coinciding with his appointment as Minister of Education. Since then, he has had no involvement in the company’s operations or management,” Koesoemohadiani stated.
GoTo clarified that it holds no affiliation with any of Nadiem’s official duties and has no connection to the Chromebook procurement currently under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office.
The company further noted that the probe is focused on Nadiem’s share ownership prior to GoTo’s initial public offering. Investigators have requested documents such as notarial deeds related to the company's capital structure and board composition before its IPO.
Former GoTo executives Andre Soelistyo and Melissa Siska Juminto were also named, due to their past roles as directors at the firm’s subsidiary, PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa (Gojek), during 2020–2024. Both individuals no longer hold positions at GoTo.
“There is no material adverse impact from this legal issue on our business continuity, operations, finances, or legal standing,” the company asserted. “GoTo and its subsidiaries continue to operate as normal.”
As a result, GoTo concluded that the issue does not warrant further disclosure based on materiality thresholds.
Director of Public Affairs & Communications Ade Mulya echoed the statement, underscoring GoTo’s respect for the legal process. “We are cooperating and following instructions from the authorities,” he said.
Ade reiterated that Nadiem has not held any executive role at Gojek since his October 2019 resignation and has had no operational or managerial involvement since then. Likewise, Andre Soelistyo officially resigned as president director in June 2023 and stepped down as commissioner following shareholder approval on June 11, 2024.
The company closed by reaffirming its commitment to good corporate governance. “We uphold the presumption of innocence and abide by prevailing laws. As a public company, we prioritize transparency and accountability,” the statement concluded.
