JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk or PGEO reshuffles its board on Tuesday, Jan 20, 2026 in Jakarta by appointing Ahmad Yani as president director to replace Julfi Hadi, a move aimed at keeping the company on track toward its long term geothermal expansion targets.
The decision is approved at an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders held at Grha Pertamina, Jakarta, marking a key leadership transition at the state linked renewable energy producer.
PGEO also appoints Andi Joko Nugroho as director of operations, replacing Ahmad Yani, who previously held the role before his promotion.
President Commissioner Gigih Udi Atmo says the appointment reflects a strategic step to ensure business direction remains aligned with the company’s growth roadmap.
“We are optimistic this strategic decision will open wider opportunities for business and operational development,” Gigih says in a statement. “With his long experience in the geothermal industry within the Pertamina Group, Mr Ahmad Yani’s leadership is expected to further assert PGE’s direction as a world leading geothermal producer.”
Before his appointment as president director, Ahmad Yani served as PGEO’s director of operations since 2023 and played a key role in maintaining operational reliability and improving generation efficiency across all geothermal working areas.
In 2025, PGEO achieved an all time high in geothermal production under his operational leadership.
During his tenure, Ahmad Yani also pushed technological innovation, including the initiation of a green hydrogen pilot project in Ulubelu and the development of Flow2Max and G-Bionic technologies to enhance efficiency in geothermal operations.
Ahmad Yani says he is committed to continuing PGEO’s strategic vision and strengthening geothermal energy as a backbone of Indonesia’s national energy transition.
“PGE is targeting installed capacity of 1 gigawatt within the next two to three years and increasing it to 1.8 gigawatts by 2033,” Ahmad Yani says. “This is supported by potential capacity of up to 3 gigawatts from 10 geothermal working areas that we manage independently to support energy security and the net zero emissions 2060 agenda.”
At the same meeting, shareholders formally approve the honorable dismissal of Julfi Hadi as president director following his resignation letter received on Nov 25, 2025.
Gigih expresses appreciation for Julfi Hadi’s contributions since 2023, crediting him with strengthening PGEO’s business foundations during his leadership period.
Andi Joko Nugroho, previously vice president of operations and engineering, is expected to reinforce corporate governance, improve operational effectiveness, and support the execution of PGEO’s business strategy in his new role as director of operations.
Following the changes, the board structure of Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk is reaffirmed with a renewed focus on operational excellence and sustainable growth.
