JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has assured that there will be no new tariffs or taxes introduced in 2026, despite the government setting an ambitious target to increase tax revenues by 12.8% next year.
Speaking at the presentation of the 2026 Draft State Budget and Financial Note on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, Sri Mulyani emphasized that the focus will remain on internal reforms rather than imposing additional tax burdens.
“We are not introducing any new taxes, but rather focusing on internal reforms,” said Sri Mulyani during the press conference at the Directorate General of Taxes in Jakarta.
The ministry’s tax policy in 2026 will be based on the existing framework under the Law on the Harmonization of Tax Regulations (UU HPP), along with other prevailing regulations. According to Sri Mulyani, efforts will concentrate on strengthening tax administration and improving enforcement mechanisms.
Focus on Coretax and Data Accuracy
Sri Mulyani said the government will continue upgrading its core tax administration system, known as Coretax, while enhancing data exchange across ministries and agencies.
Improved data accuracy and timely reporting, she said, are vital for raising compliance and curbing tax evasion, as well as suppressing shadow economic activities and illicit transactions.
“With accurate and timely data, we can open up better opportunities for enforcement,” she added.
One of the key initiatives will involve building a new database using land use findings recently reported by President Prabowo Subianto. The Ministry of Finance plans to use the data — covering 3 million to 3.5 million hectares of palm oil plantations reclaimed by the state — to support monitoring and enforcement efforts.
Revenue Targets Across Multiple Sources
The 2026 draft budget sets the overall state revenue target at Rp 3,147.7 trillion, with taxation forming the bulk of that figure. Tax revenues are projected to reach Rp 2,357.7 trillion, an increase of 13.5% from the projected Rp 2,076.9 trillion in 2025.
Customs and excise revenues are expected to contribute Rp 334.3 trillion, marking a 7.7% rise from the 2025 outlook of Rp 310.4 trillion.
Meanwhile, non-tax state revenues (PNBP) are targeted at Rp 455 trillion, a 4.7% decline from the 2025 estimate of Rp 477.2 trillion — a signal that the government is banking more heavily on improved tax administration to meet its fiscal goals.
