Kadin Chairman Anindya Predicts Indonesia-Uzbekistan Trade Potential to Reach $500 Million
JAKARTA, investortrust.id – Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Novyan Bakrie has expressed strong support for enhancing trade cooperation between Indonesia and Uzbekistan, noting that the potential trade value between the two nations could reach $500 million.
Anindya believes this target is achievable following bilateral discussions between Indonesia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, and Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov.
Expanding Trade Opportunities
"Very soon, we could reach at least $500 million, and potentially much more," Anindya said after attending the Indonesia-Uzbekistan Business Forum at The Ritz-Carlton, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Currently, trade between Indonesia and Uzbekistan stands at approximately $100 million, with Indonesia’s exports to Uzbekistan amounting to around $16 million as of 2023.
Anindya emphasized that the meeting between the two delegations presents an opportunity to explore new sectors for trade and business cooperation.
Key Sectors for Collaboration
"The primary sectors of cooperation include agriculture and food processing, leveraging Indonesia’s expertise in palm oil, spices, and fisheries, alongside Uzbekistan’s strength in cotton and wheat production," he explained.
Additionally, Anindya highlighted opportunities in the textile and apparel industry, which could expand Uzbekistan’s exports to Indonesia’s textile manufacturing sector. Other potential areas include pharmaceuticals and technology.
"In the technology and digital economy sectors, there are opportunities to collaborate in e-commerce, fintech, and technology development, particularly in artificial intelligence," he added.
