Kadin Chairman Anindya: Indonesia and India Rebuild Trust Amid Global Protectionism
NEW DELHI – A recent meeting between business leaders from Indonesia and India in New Delhi underscored the importance of collaboration in the age of artificial intelligence. Both nations agreed to rebuild trust, not only bilaterally but also regionally, as protectionist trends intensify worldwide.
“This time, the theme is collaboration in the era of artificial intelligence. Nothing is impossible,” said Anindya Novyan Bakrie, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), during a press briefing at the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi on Monday, Jan 27, 2025.
“In this era of artificial intelligence, everything is advancing. Even our speeches can now be crafted using ChatGPT, in any language. This is just the beginning; developments will happen everywhere,” he added.
Five Key Discussion Points
Anindya highlighted five key themes addressed during meetings between government and business representatives from both countries. The first focused on fostering growth in the "2I" nations—Indonesia and India.
The second theme centered on rebuilding trust between the two countries and within the region. According to Anindya, rising global geopolitical tensions and protectionist policies adopted by many nations have led to slower growth worldwide.
Another critical topic was the role of technology. “For countries with large populations like ours, the use of technology is essential,” Anindya stated.
The discussion also touched on talent development, with Anindya praising India’s robust talent pipeline. “India produces a significant number of talents. Medical education is more affordable and accessible, as is engineering and vocational training. And finally, we discussed sustainability,” he said.
