Prabowo Meets Housing Minister in Hambalang on $11.3B Push for Homes and Indonesia ASRI

The cornerstone of the immediate construction drive relies on Housing People’s Business Credit (KUR Perumahan), with the ministry securing a dedicated Rp 50 trillion credit line for 2026. The facility has already financed the rehabilitation of roughly 87,000 homes alongside the direct purchase or construction of approximately 18,000 residential units.

At the institutional level, the government is tapping commercial banking liquidity freed up by Bank Indonesia’s decision to lower the mandatory reserve requirement (GWM) from 5% to 4%, opening substantial commercial lending headroom for residential mortgages. This regulatory flexibility is reinforced by an institutional burden-sharing accord between the central bank and the finance ministry, which has enabled authorities to expand the national subsidized home quota from 220,000 units to 350,000 units.

"Creative financing allows us to enlarge total construction capacity without relying solely on state revenues," Maruarar stressed, describing the multi-agency network as a vital "super team" spanning regulators, public lenders, and municipal administrators.

Gentengisasi and the Indonesia ASRI Mandate

The physical upgrades reported to the President at Hambalang are designed to feed directly into the broader "Indonesia ASRI" movement—Prabowo’s push to transform Indonesia's rural villages and metropolitan centers into secure, hygienic, clean, and beautiful habitats.
