JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — PT Telkom Data Ekosistem (NeutraDC), the data center subsidiary of state-owned telecommunications giant PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM) and a key member of the Danantara Indonesia sovereign ecosystem, is accelerating its digital footprint with a hyperscale expansion reaching up to 200 megawatts (MW) in Cikarang, West Java.
To guarantee uninterrupted energy supplies for the multi-stage buildout, NeutraDC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with state electricity utility PT PLN (Persero). The agreement brought together NeutraDC Group CEO Rakhmad Tunggal Afifuddin, PLN West Java Distribution Unit General Manager Muhammad Joharifin, and PLN Electricity Services CEO Susiana Mutia during a formal signing witnessed by PLN Retail and Commerce Director M. Fahrur Rozy in Bandung on Tuesday (Aug. 11, 2026).
Southeast Asia's AI computing race is triggering unprecedented demand for hyperscale power and digital real estate. By securing a 200 MW energy pipeline with state backing, NeutraDC positions Southeast Asia's largest economy as a critical computing corridor capable of hosting heavy cloud and large-scale AI workloads for global tech titans.
Powering Southeast Asia's Booming AI Supercycle
The expansion responds directly to the exponential surge in high-performance computing required by artificial intelligence systems, cloud architectures, and digital platform operators. The Cikarang complex will provide hyper-dense infrastructure designed to scale on demand as enterprise AI adoption accelerates.
"For us at NeutraDC, this expansion is not just about adding data center capacity. We are building the foundational infrastructure that Indonesia needs to thrive in the AI era. Reliable energy readiness is therefore the central pillar of our growth strategy," said Rakhmad Tunggal Afifuddin during the signing ceremony in Bandung.
Forging Cross-Sector Energy and Tech Synergies
Scaling massive compute clusters requires close cross-sector integration between energy grids and carrier networks. Rakhmad emphasized that digital transformation cannot operate in isolation from industrial infrastructure.
"When we expand data center capacity, we must ensure the entire supporting ecosystem is ready. Our collaboration with PLN ensures that this expansion unfolds in a disciplined, scalable, and sustainable manner," Rakhmad added.
The Cikarang mega-facility opens expansive runway for global cloud providers, chipmakers, and artificial intelligence developers seeking Tier-ready regional hubs. Beyond physical space, NeutraDC is deploying three integrated verticals—Neutra Colocation, Neutra Compute, and Neutra Connect—spanning GPU clusters, high-speed interconnects, cross-connect infrastructure, and dedicated enterprise internet gateways.
