Under the terms of the agreement, PT NQI has been appointed as the exclusive sole distributor for the entire suite of Hosen-X products and technology ecosystems. The incoming technology combines artificial intelligence and photonics—the physical science of light generation and detection—to optimize energy efficiency. Physical construction of both factories is slated to begin shortly to accelerate the national adoption of electric vehicles and integrated solar energy.
The Regional Grid Shift
The venture lands at a critical juncture for Southeast Asia’s largest economy, which faces a surging demand for electricity to power its budding technology and industrial sectors. By developing an integrated supply chain from raw production to assembly, the project aims to establish national clean-energy independence rather than relying on standard import pipelines.
The first phase of the initiative involves building a large-scale battery manufacturing facility that will mirror Hosen-X’s automated smart manufacturing setups. The plant will produce high-performance battery cells and house specialized battery pack assembly lines—known in the industry as PACK lines—to serve both domestic Indonesian markets and regional export channels.
The second phase targets the photovoltaic supply chain through a dedicated wafer factory. Wafers are the thin slices of semiconductor material used to fabricate solar cells. By localized production of these components for the domestic and regional photovoltaic industries, the facility is projected to substantially drive down the cost of solar energy generation across the archipelago.
Pushing Thermal and Logistics Boundaries
Beyond heavy manufacturing, the partnership introduces an expansive portfolio of green technologies tailored for automotive, commercial, industrial, and smart grid infrastructure.
For the two-wheeler electric vehicle market—a dominant mode of transport in congested Indonesian urban centers—Hosen-X is introducing a rapid battery-swap system. The technology reportedly supports a driving range of more than 800 kilometers (approximately 497 miles) on a single cycle, with a physical swap time of just 30 seconds. The system features real-time tracking, anti-theft protocols, and intelligent safety monitors.
In the engineering of the cells themselves, Hosen-X has developed proprietary batteries capable of operating under extreme temperatures ranging from minus 70 degrees Celsius to 150 degrees Celsius (minus 94 to 302 degrees Fahrenheit). The hardware maintains a discharge efficiency above 90% at minus 40 degrees Celsius, supports an 80% charge within five minutes, and yields a lifespan exceeding 12,000 charge cycles. The firm will also deploy sodium-ion batteries—a cheaper alternative to lithium-ion—for telecommunications base stations, utility-scale energy storage systems, and low-speed electric vehicles.
Industrial Smart Networks
For industrial operations, the venture provides Energy Storage System solutions that utilize automated production lines for diverse cell configurations, liquid-cooled battery packs, and large-scale storage arrays to stabilize fluctuating electrical grids.
Managing these distributed assets will rely on a cloud-based Virtual Power Plant platform. The system uses 4G and 5G Internet of Things networks to dynamically balance solar arrays, wind turbines, energy storage, and electrical loads in real time. Hosen-X also plans to offer distributed solar generation via solar canopies and commercial rooftop installations under an Energy Management Contract scheme, allowing industrial buyers to adopt infrastructure with zero upfront capital expenditure.
PT NQI management emphasized on Tuesday that the agreement represents an absolute transfer of high-level technology and the synchronization of global manufacturing capacity into Indonesia, rather than a standard commercial import arrangement.
