Key Takeaways

JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA), Indonesia’s most valuable lender, posted a consolidated net profit of Rp 45.2 trillion ($2.84 billion) for the first nine months of 2026, marking a 4.2% year-on-year increase on the back of aggressive corporate credit demand and low funding costs.
The lender's total loan portfolio expanded 12.6% year-on-year to Rp 1,063 trillion ($66.77 billion) through September 2026, maintaining double-digit momentum above wider banking industry averages. The performance prompted executive leadership to formally lift full-year credit expansion targets.
As Southeast Asia's benchmark private banking institution, BCA’s balance-sheet trajectory serves as a primary barometer of corporate investment appetite and consumption across Indonesia. Despite headwinds from global interest rates, BCA leveraged its transactional funding franchise—anchoring current and savings accounts (CASA) at over 80% of total deposits—to absorb lending growth without sacrificing asset quality or margin profitability. The results highlight how top-tier commercial lenders are sustaining profitability by capturing large corporate credit demand while maintaining conservative risk buffers.
Corporate Credit Powers Loan Book Past Rp 1,000 Trillion
The bank’s loan book was anchored by productive business credit, which rose 17.2% year-on-year to Rp 831 trillion ($52.20 billion).
Within this segment, corporate lending served as the primary growth engine, surging 20.9% year-on-year to Rp 528.1 trillion ($33.17 billion). Commercial credit grew 7.8% to Rp 154.1 trillion ($9.68 billion), while financing extended to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) rose 15.4% to Rp 149.2 trillion ($9.37 billion).
"Credit distribution was executed prudently across various sectors, continuously taking into account the principle of caution and safeguarding the company's liquidity," BCA President Director Gregory Hendra Lembong said during the bank’s third-quarter earnings presentation on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026.
Sustainable financing maintained an upward trajectory, rising 16.3% year-on-year to Rp 280.3 trillion ($17.61 billion), representing 26.4% of the bank's total loan portfolio. To sustain grassroots business activity, the lender rolled out targeted facilities, including the Multipurpose Business Credit (KMU) scheme, which offers effective rates starting from 5.81% alongside extended repayment tenors running into early 2027.
Funding remained supported by the bank's transaction network. Total third-party deposits (DPK) climbed 8% year-on-year to Rp 1,301 trillion ($81.72 billion), driven by a 10.4% advance in low-cost CASA balances to Rp 1,103 trillion ($69.28 billion). CASA deposits now comprise roughly 84.8% of the bank's overall deposit base.
Management Lifts Full-Year Guidance
Reflecting the robust nine-month performance, BCA Director Vera Eve Lim disclosed that executive management had raised its full-year credit expansion projections.
"In our initial plan, we targeted 8% to 10%," Lim said during the earnings briefing. "However, considering our developments heading into the third quarter, our estimate for full-year 2026 can reach double digits, in the range of 10% to 12%."
Lim noted that the bank will maintain its official Bank Business Plan (RBB) filing while tracking toward the higher operational projection.
Asset quality metrics remained resilient across all segments. The lender's non-performing loan (NPL) ratio stood at 1.8% at the end of September 2026, safely within the bank's internal target boundary of 1.8% to 2.0%. Meanwhile, the loan-at-risk (LAR) ratio improved to 4.6%.
BCA also expects its net interest margin (NIM) to hold steady in the fourth quarter, supported by stable funding costs and regulatory liquidity adjustments from Bank Indonesia (BI).
"We see that with solid credit expansion, NIM will be preserved in a band not far from third-quarter levels," Lim noted, while welcoming central bank policy actions. "The 2-percentage-point statutory reserve requirement (GWM) easing certainly impacts BCA favorably; from our latest calculations, we obtain liquidity room approaching 1%," she added.
Digital Feature Expansion
Beyond headline balance-sheet metrics, BCA expanded transactional engagement via its mobile platform, myBCA. Recent updates include raising maximum daily domestic transfer limits to Rp 500 million ($31,407), integrating customizable home widgets, rolling out digital gold savings accounts, and launching instant foreign-currency remittances denominated in Singapore dollars (SGD), British pounds (GBP), and Canadian dollars (CAD).
The bank also integrated the government-backed Kartu Kredit Indonesia (KKI) framework into myBCA, allowing retail consumers to execute merchant QRIS payments directly debited against KKI credit lines.
